Corvus Whisperleaf is an old, fun-loving father to his son and three grandchildren who live with him and his wife Lola.

Corvus befriended a red dragon, Scorcher, in the forest behind his home when he was a child. They grew up together, and are lifelong friends. Corvus helps hide him from those who want to steal him away.
