When very young, Scorcher got lost from his mother during a battle. He was old enough to know he was a dragon, to know what dragons are, but not much more than that. He wandered for some time, trying to find his mother.

Eventually, he stumbled across a boy of about 12. Though the tensions were high, they soon started to play together. The boy kept coming back to the woods to play, and they formed a quick bond. The boy taught him how to speak common, and he started to gain some slight human-like inclinations and sympathies.

They grew up together as brothers. But humans age much faster than dragons. Scorcher stayed young while the boy grew old, eventually marrying and building a family.

Currently, the dragon is 108 but still has the personality of a child, and his old friend is 76.
