Gwenevere Penhollow

From a young age, Gwenevere was quite different from other kids her age. She had an obviously gifted mind and enjoyed activities such as dissecting small animals or building quant mechanisms.

Her parents, being of substantial means, had arranged a marriage for her when she turned fifteen. The marriage was to one named Robert Penhollow, and fortunately, their union was one of true love.

Fate, however, was not so kind. During one of Robert's merchant voyages, he returned home afflicted by an illness. Despite Gwenevere's fervent attempts, Robert's condition worsened, and he eventually passed away.

Heartbroken and shattered, Gwenevere refused to accept the finality of her husband's death. She became obsessed with the idea of bringing her husband back through the power of science. In her laboratory, she toiled relentlessly, concocting elixirs and creating intricate machines, all in the name of reversing the irreversible.

As time passed, the line between genius and madness grew increasingly thin, and Gwenevere's experiments yielded results, though not promising. She did manage to reanimate Robert's body, but the soul she had cherished was gone, and he was little more than a hollow, lifeless shell. 

With bitter realization, she realized science alone could not bridge the chasm between life and death. Magic, with its arcane and unpredictable nature, became her solution.

It was during this tumultuous time that Lord Drakthon, a vampire lich of immeasurable power and ancient wisdom, took notice of Gwenevere's unwavering determination. He appeared to her in the shadows of her candlelit laboratory and offered her forbidden knowledge of the dark arts for only a sliver of her soul.

Gwenevere accepted the offer and to this day, remains locked away in her tower, a relentless enigma.
