"Danny Gumtreeseed" Daniel Channing

Daniel Channing is a halfling born in the bleak coastal town of Minster. The second son of his parents, Daniel was not given as strict of an upbringing as his older brother Nathaniel.

While Nathaniel went to school and got a job, Daniel's only instruction from his parents was "just get any job, we don't care."

Everyday Daniel would leave home telling his parents that he was going to work, then he would set out and explore. He would venture to the surrounding caves and cliffs near the town, as well as the forest that was further inland. He didn't have a job to pay for food, so he learned how to survive off the land. Learning how to hunt and gather.

One day while exploring the forest, he found a group of trees that piqued his interest. These trees were Sweetgum Trees. 

He found them fascinating and spent months studying them. He found that many moths find refuge in the tree, and many birds feast on their seeds. He also found that the tree produced lots of sap that, while bitter-tasting, seemed to have a lot of medical properties. He was even able to make a chewable gum out of the sap.

After nearly a year of studying the trees, he brought his findings to his brother. Nathaniel, who had found a job in business was able to, with Daniels's help, produce tons of products using the tree. Soon, Daniel found himself a business partner with his brother planting hundreds of Sweetgum Trees. Despite the success, Daniel soon grew restless and tired of his life.

He soon left his brother to run the business by himself. He decided to set off more inland to see if he could spread news of the trees and their properties. So, with a bag of the Sweetgum Tree seeds he set off.

Daniel spent years traveling, planting seeds as he went, telling everyone about the helpful properties of the seeds. As he traveled, he became a bit of a folk hero and gained a nickname, "Danny Gumtreeseed."
